Tonight

Tonight, I rocked my baby for a few extra minutes.
Tonight, I held him close a little bit tighter.
Tonight, I nuzzled his cheeks a few extra times.
Tonight, I kissed the top of his head a little more slowly.
Tonight, I gazed at his tiny nose, fingers, and toes a little bit longer.
Tonight, I laid him down a bit more reluctantly.
Tonight, I memorized everything about him.

Because he won't be a baby very long. He will never remember snuggling in close and falling asleep with a smile on his face. He won't remember how we made each other smile. He won't remember all of these little moments.

But I will.

Just a few minutes

Just wanted to give a very quick update:

Yesterday, Lucas fed himself for the first time. He's been picking up food for a while, but yesterday was the first time he put the food into his mouth and ate it. I was excited! Yesterday we could also see the white of his top two teeth underneath his gums. They are going to break through any day now.

Friday night we went to the Sioux hockey game with Becky and Brandon. We had a lot of fun. Aunt Andrea and Uncle Aaron babysat Lucas.

I am working hard on Luke's Christmas stocking. I knew I wasn't going to finish it before Christmas, but I would like to have it done ASAP.

My New Year's Resolution: blog more and update with some pictures. (oh yeah, and that whole exercise thing, too).
